Chapter 7

The air felt colder than it did before, but I felt like I was wrapped in a bubble of heat. When I shifted to roll over, I hit the hard surface that was emanating the heat, and my eyes opened. I took a moment to admire Ren's serene, sleeping face. His inky black lashes fanned his cheeks, and stubble lined his jaw. I couldn't help snuggling closer to the six feet of pure muscle under velvety soft and warm skin. My slight movement stirred him away.

As soon as his lids lifted, his blue eyes were clear and alert as if he hadn't been fast asleep. I wish I could master the skill of instant alertness on waking up. I was usually a fumbling mess when I woke up, stubbing my toe on furniture, tripping over rugs and my own feet.

"What are you smiling about already?" Ren asked.

I chuckled. "Just thinking about how alert you are as soon as your eyes open compared to the major klutz I am when I get out of bed."

He smiled, and my morning was already made. "You are super accident prone when you just wake up. It's cute."

Snorting, I rolled my eyes. "Since when is being a total klutz cute?"

"Since it's you. I find everything you do cute, even when you trip over your own feet."

Heat spread from my face to my neck and then to my toes. It was the usual heat of embarrassment, though. It was the tingly warm feeling from being complemented by my boyfriend. Throwing my hands over my head, I stretched and moaned. "I can't believe we spent the night on the roof." It was still dark, but from the way the sun barely peeped up from behind the horizon, I estimated it to be around five o'clock. It was the time I was usually up and getting ready for training with the guys. I wasn't sure if there was a training session this morning, however. After my injuries, I hadn't gone to the gym in days.

"It was nice. We should spend more nights out here. I prefer outside over the restricting walls of the manor."

I rubbed his stubbled jaw affectionately. "I know you do." Ren was more a wild wolf than man sometimes. That was why he sat in trees all day rather than stay inside like the rest of us. "Wild man." I giggled when he growled and dipped his head to nuzzle my neck.

"I'll show you what a wild man I am." His voice was low and sensual, and I shivered with anticipation.

"You already showed me last night." I was breathless, panting with need, and he'd barely touched me.

He lifted his head to peer down at me. "I'm showing you again." Wearing a smirk, he held my gaze as his fingers traipsed over my bare thigh. We were both completely naked under the quilt. When I'd tried to get dressed last night, Ren demanded that I stay in the nude so he could have his wicked way with me whenever he wanted throughout the night.
